Matthew Patterson is an associate with Beam & Raymond who specializes
in all aspects of Civil Litigation. Matthew was a standout student at
The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Matthew graduated magna cum laude
finishing sixth in his class of 284 and was a member of The John Marshall
Law Review. Matthew also received eight CALI awards as the law student
with the highest grade in: Evidence, Professional Responsibility (Legal
Ethics), and Constitutional Law among others. In addition, Matt was on
the Dean's list for every semester in law school.
Even before graduating law school, Matt gained experience in every aspect
of personal injury litigation in Chicago. Matt clerked for the Honorable
James D. Egan when he sat on the trial call for the Circuit Court of Cook
County. Additionally, Matt was a law clerk for a premier
medical malpractice litigation defense firm here in Chicago. This experience on the "other
side" provided Matt with insight into how defense attorneys prepare
their cases. Information he can now use to help his personal injury clients.
Matt is a local voice with many ties to the Chicago community in our geographically
diverse firm. Matthew was raised on the north side of Chicago where he
was seemingly preparing to be a trial lawyer from birth. Matthew's
father, Robert Patterson, has been a premier plaintiff's personal
injury lawyer in Chicago for over forty years. His mother, Cathy, is a
parochial school teacher at Pope John XXIII of Evanston. Matthew lives
with his wife and best friend, Alex, in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.
When Matt is not fighting for his clients' rights, he enjoys spending
time with friends and family, supporting all Chicago's sports teams,
and staying informed on current events in the news and politics.
Matthew has experience in each aspect of personal injury litigation in
Chicago: from the family dinner table, from behind the bench, from the
defense perspective and now as an associate at Beam & Raymond representing
injured individuals. Matt specializes in birth injury cases with Beam
& Raymond but would be happy to review and answer your questions for
any type of personal injury case.
